Her One and Only is the first book I’ve read in the
Porter Family Novel Series by Becky Wade, but I was so glad I was able to read
it. It definitely made me want to go back and read the first 3 books that focus
on the Porter brothers. This book looks at the youngest Porter, and the only
sister, Dru. Dru is a former Marine who now works as an executive protection
agent (bodyguard). When Dru’s new assignment has her protecting Gray Fowler, a
NFL tight end for the Dallas Mustangs, she finds it difficult to keep her
growing feelings for him from affecting her job.
Gray Fowler is not interested in having protective
agents, even after receiving threating letters in the mail. When Dru is
assigned to protect him, he immediately begins to feel a connection to her. While I think his feelings for her were real, I
don’t like the way in which he treated their relationship at some points.
Placing bets on who can kiss Dru first would not be the way he should, or would,
treat a person he had growing feelings for.
I really enjoyed this book. The suspense combined with
the romance made this book one I didn’t want to put down. In addition to the
romance, I liked how the book focused on both of these characters looking for
something more in their life. Dru told how her life was before her relationship
with Jesus, and how her life has changed now that she has a closer relationship
with God.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for
a Christian romance with suspense thrown in J
