Billy Joel, by Fred Schruers, tells the story of one a great
singer, from his childhood all the way to his present life. I think it was
really interesting how the book looked at some of his family beginnings, and
their experiences with the Nazis taking over their family business. The book
chronicles Billy Joel’s wives, struggles with alcohol, family life, as well as
his musical career. I also liked that this book was in collaboration with Billy
Joel, so you know the details are accurate to the experiences he really had in
his life.
I think this is a great book for Billy Joel fans. I don’t
know if people who don’t like his music would enjoy this book as much as I did,
since it is fairly long. It is definitely not a book that can be read in one
sitting like so many of the other celebrity biographies that are currently on
the market. Overall, I enjoyed this book and look forward to sharing it with
some of my friends who are also Billy Joel fans.
