A Wing and a Prayer by Julie Lessman was one of my favorite books I've read in a long time. I really enjoy reading WW2 books and this did not disappoint! You could really tell from reading it that the author, Julie Lessman, spent a lot of time in researching many different aspects of WW2.
Garbriella, Gabe, Dawn O'Connor was adopted into the O'Connor family at a young age, and she was always the rebel - not seeming to want to listen to authority figures. This doesn't change in A Wing and a Prayer, when she meets Alex Kincaid, her PT while she is training to be a Women Airforce Service Pilot (WASP). Alex is from the same community in Boston as Gabe, and he has heard many stories about her being a bully from his younger brothers. She definitely lives up to her reputation, as she butts heads with Alex at every turn. Her faith is tested throughout this book, and the growth that she experiences - through giving forgiveness - is one of my favorite parts of her story.
I really enjoyed reading about the relationship between Alex and Gabe, and I'm glad I read all of the books from the beginning of this series. The O'Connor family is full of great characters with interesting stories, and every time I read one of the new books in the series, it reminds me how much I enjoyed the earlier books. If you haven't read any other books in the O'Connor series, I recommend you read the books from start to finish.
I cannot wait to read more books in this series which is hopefully going to next share the stories of Gabe's "cousins" Hope and Henry.
